Another Talent Competition

So there's a new show premiering on NBC called The Sing Off, with its tag-line being: The ultimate A Cappella Competition. They also describe it as combining American Idol and Glee. Whateves. That just made me log onto Hulu and what Glee. And I love music but another wanna be American Idol is not at all appealing to me. I can barely handle the original. In another promo ad they show a bunch of folks singing on street corners and what not, and instruments being smashed and destroyed. My thoughts were that I hope that was CGI, because that is a complete waste! I mean couldn't they find another way to drive there point other than resorting to vandalism? I was just so wasteful and corny to me. Then they showed then homegirl from the Losen Up My Buttons Pussy Cat dolls was shown saying something along the lines of, "How cool is it to make music from just voices!" Um...really? Isn't that what its all about? Annoying

So I'd already written it off  as show that would not be adding to Must See T.V. list. Then during one of the ads I saw two familiar faces that has changed my mind. The first being Benjamin Scott "Ben Folds" the front man for the great Ben Folds Five! Evidently he will be one of the judges on this Sing Off show. So of course I'm there. Second person that I saw during the promos, but that did not cause so much glee was one Nick Lachey. He will be hosting the show, and I'm just happy that he has a job. I mean how much settlement money could he have from the divorce? I hope the show is a success so that he will  remain gainfully employed.

The Sweetest Thing

Customer Service huh?

So after work today I went ran a couple of errands before hoping on the bus and heading home. One of my stops was at Verizon to pay my mobile bill. I usually pay at the in store automated pay station so I don't have to deal with lines and the like. I didn't want to use my debit card and attempted to pay with cash. Which I've done countless times, but the machine was unwilling to accept my cash. I ask one of the Verizon folks for assistance (who was quite nice) but he doesn't seem to know whats happening either. So I go to the counter and ask one of the ladies if I could pay. Without looking up she asks flatly with a slight hint of annoyance "The machine is not working?" I tell her no and she processed to do something at her monitor this point I turn and walk leave. She says after me "I can help you." Over my shoulder I tell her I'm fine and continue walking.

Listen I'm not expecting to be greeted with rose pedals and champagne when I enter a room but come on. Do your job. I work in retail too and I constantly have to cater to the needs of the public. And when I feel as though I have nothing left to give I fake it till I make it.

The Late Night Green NIght Eco Jam!

I love Jimmy Fallon and think he's doing a great job of hosting the Late Show on NBC. He's just so stinking cute and always puts a smile on my face. Even when his jokes fall flat. Check out his eco jams!

Football Weekends

What a gorgeous sunny, but cold day in good ole Rhody! I have a four hour shift at the store today so I'm gonna grab some food and head out to the job. The Patriots don't play until tomorrow night on Monday Night football. So that's one less thing that I have to think about today. I don't even want to think about that game, I'm just thinking positive thoughts and hoping for the best. I know its just a game, I have to tell myself that over and over because I take it way too personally.

Before heading out to the job on Saturday, I was able to catch the first half of the Florida Gators vs. the Florida Seminoles on CBS. It was the last home game for college football's super nova Tim Tebow. I watched as each of the seniors had their moment and was introduced. When they showed Tebow just before he was introduced I got all emotional (I AM that girl who cries at Hallmark commercials) when I saw his eyes brimming with tears.

I've never seen this kind of attention, accolades and scrutiny for any other college football player. He is admired and criticized for both his game and religious stand, and at every turn that young man has shown nothing but class.
